Kiosk components
Kiosk design process
The design for the kiosk takes inspiration from the cave dwellings of the Pecos people and the prominence of fire in their homes. Fire was crucial to their daily lives for illumination, heat, food, comfort, and connection.
A roaring fire informs the food and beverage kiosk design.
Each component type represents an element of a fire: wood, light, heat, crackling embers, and rising smoke. Each kiosk is constructed using acrylic, Richlite, and copper with each embodying sustainable properties.
Dining at the Witte
The dining kiosk is located in the South Texas Heritage Center between the Witte Museum and Mays Family Center. Glass curtain walls surrounding the kiosk provide daylight for diners.
F+B kit-of-parts are utilized for retail service counters.
Kiosk base components are paired with suspended acoustic light fixtures to imbue the feeling of a luminous cave reflecting a fire’s flickering light. The Witte can customize the footprint of the checkout space depending on its needs. The logo component provides branding opportunities for the Witte's promotional videos.
Pop-up shop and checkout counter
The pop-up retail space allows for easy mobility for visitors and high visibility for museum staff.
